RAKO tiles on the sunny coast of Costa Brava
Platja d'Aro is one of the most beautiful and sought-after places on Spain's Costa Brava. South of Platja Gran d'Aro beach is Port d'Aro. Its proximity to the Mediterranean Sea makes it an ideal base for boat owners, who appreciate the quality of the exclusive local Nàutic Port d'Aro club. The immediate vicinity of the main club building and the terrace and pool area have recently been spruced up by Czech outdoor tiles by RAKO.
Port d'Aro has undergone a significant transformation in recent years. It is becoming a sustainable and ecological port that is also perfectly pleasing to the eye. Every visit is an unforgettable experience. The Nàutic Port d'Aro club has joined the changes in Platja d'Aro by renovating the main clubhouse, which is located right on the promenade. The terraces and roof of the three-storey building offer a unique view of the sheltered bay with its turquoise sea.
The building offers exclusive club facilities and a restaurant. There are also sanitary facilities for day guests and the Harbour Master's office. The renovation was carried out by the Spanish architectural firm abx arcquitectura and the project was completed in the summer of 2023. The building harmonises with its surroundings, has better accessibility and, last but not least, sustainable materials.
Matches with natural stone
Within the project, the immediate vicinity of the club building, the terrace and the pool area were also renovated. The architects chose RAKO tiles for several reasons: Above all, they ensured a smooth optical transition from the public pier to the private area with the clubhouse and Harbour Master's office. The grey natural stone on the public harbour promenade blends perfectly with the unglazed grey outdoor tiles from the Piazzetta Outdoor series. This tile is also safe for movement near water: it offers high slip resistance class R11. Piazzetta Outdoor tiles are also laid on the back terrace of the restaurant and, by the club's outdoor pool, in beige.
Lasselsberger, through its business partner Máxima Cerámica of Onda, delivered a total of 1,500 m2 of RAKO 2 cm outdoor tiles in a 60 × 60 cm format to Port d'Aro. For design reasons, these tiles were custom cut to a 30 x 60 cm format.
