Two bedroom apartment makeover

Architect Jan Ranný has moved the interior to 21st century, solved all the details made-to-measure, combined the newest materials with the original ones.

The new buildings have not touched the owner at all. The first thing to draw her attention was an advertisement for a sale on a two bedroom apartment in a three-storey house. The key decision-making factor for the purchase was the location. Starý Břevnov with its built-up area of low blocks of flats and houses creates the image of a quiet town. „The apartment was in a terrible condition and still it impressed me. Fortunately, I did not know in advance, what such a reconstruction means,“ Eva remembers.

Apartment secrets

Eva was looking for someone who could design a reconstruction plan for her. The architekt Jan Ranný was recommended to her by her relatives. „At our first meeting, I found interesting, what Eva planned here – according to her, a secret entrance fits into an old apartment. The essential point was, that she New, how the disposition should work, she wished for a lot of light and yellow color. I have overhauled all the things that were working and made sense,“ the architect mentions.

RAKO bathroom

Instead of a damp pantry and a lavatory, there is a bathroom there today. When choosing ceramic tiles, that should have been hight-quality, nice and for a reasonable price, Jan chose the brand RAKO. He first tried it out in the programme „Jak se staví sen“ (How a dream is built). „It often happens, that clients demand very short delivery terms, which is an advantage that RAKO has in comparison with other producers. RAKO can deliver pretty much anything from thein product line within a few days. That was not our case, we planned everything in advance at home,“ Jan says. At the beginning, he thought about the Sandstone pavement. Eventually, he tended to the neutral color and warmer feeling of the Clay series. Jan used it to connect the floor of the bathroom, hall, lavatory  and the technical room. „The aesthetic effect of the assortment is not based on the imitation of stone or another material, which is quite frequent with tiles nowadays. A monochromatic wave surface combined with a fine structure creates the image of alternation of glossy and matt surface. This ganges with the illumination, when you walk on it, it appears „live“. I like Clay the best, I have tried it out at home and since that time I have been using it on further orders,“ architect Jan Ranný concludes.
